BlogSimple2 is an experimental blog bundle built on pagelists based on BlogSimple.
It is not skin-specific.

BlogSimple2beta is designed only for the latest PmWiki beta series (currently 2.2.0.beta31). It takes advantage of the new Page Text Variables in order to simplify the creation of blog pages and, especially, in display of blog pages.

The previous version created a list of pages by looking to see if the page linked to Category.Blog. Now the recipe checks to see if the page text variable Blog is set before including it.

In addition, this version ensures that the code used in the pagelist display will also be used when viewing the page itself. In the past version, pages viewed in the blog pagelist would appear quite different from the normal display. This new method is accomplished using SiteHeader and SiteFooter and a page Site/BlogMeta which adds the metadata divs for the blog.

Now once you've added (:Blog:1:) to a page, it will appear (nearly) the same whether you are viewing the page itself or within the #recentblog pagelist. The commentbox only appears when you're viewing the post itself.

INSTALLATION:

add to config.php:
    include_once("$FarmD/cookbook/blogsimple2/blogsimple2.php");

TO USE BLOGSIMPLE2beta:

To add a post to your blog, simply add (:Blog:1:) to any page.

To show lists of posts, or display recent entries of your blog, consult the pagelists at
Site/BloglistTemplates. For example, a recent posts pagelist could be

(:pagelist fmt=#recentblog $:Blog=1 count=5 list=blog order=-ctime:)

This would display your 5 most recent posts in reverse chronological order.

All comments are placed in the PostComments group.
As posts are added, they automatically are displayed on the BlogArchive/BlogArchive page for viewing--all by date and by month.

STYLING THE LISTS:

You need to style these pagelists. The recentblog pagelist, which is the primary pagelist, features semantic class naming of divs, which makes styling easy. The styles you'll want to be aware of are:
.blogpost
  .blogpost-title
  .blogpost-meta
    .blogpost-date
    .blogpost-time
    .blogpost-commentlink
    .blogpost-editlink
  .blogpost-content
    .blogpost-comments
      .blogpost-commentbox

Note that some of these names have changed since the first release of this recipe.

A sample css file is available in the main directory. This should be placed in /pub/css, probably in your local.css file.
